The Mars Volta is an American progressive rock group formed in 2001 by guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala. They incorporate various influences including punk rock, jazz fusion, funk and Latin/Salsa into their sound.
Due the release of their 4th album "The Bedlam in Goliath" ido webdesign realised a new website based on the artwork of the new album. ido webesign also realised a integrated tourmodule with setlist module.
In the third semester at the Communication and MultimediaDesign course we learn how to develop a concept for a website.
My graphic design teacher gave me the following task: make a new concept for a website that already excists but doesn't match all the graphical terms. Try to be as creative and unique as possible!
I decided to make a new concept for an alternative club called backstage in the city of Maastricht. The concept for the website is based on the following 4 terms:
- 100% pure
- 100% independent
- 100% progressive
- 100% alternative
In the summer of 2006 six friends started a coverband of the Dutch dialect group Rowwen Hèze. First this was only meant to be as one gig for the local Christmas celebration. But the public was so enthusiastic that they decided to do more gigs in the future.
That's the point where they asked ido webdesign to help with their new website and branding for their forthcoming tour. The website and logo are inspired by:
- folk, fanfare and tex-mex music
- de Peel
- landscape of Limburg
Stichting Internationale Vrijwilligersprojecten is a Dutch youth exchange organisation. Annually, about 500 young Dutch people do volunteer work abroad with the help of S.I.W. Working in national parks conserving nature, working with disabled people/children, renovation works are some of the areas where S.I.W. volunteers participated.
ido webdesign developed for S.I.W. a complete new website with integrated database of her projects. Due the Content Management System (CMS) all employees are able to carry out activities on the website.
In the second semester of the second year at the Communication and MultimediaDesign course we learn how to develop a complete new concept for an interactive website including streaming media.
The project was developed by my whole C-MD class (17 people) but splitted in different groups:
- content team
- graphic design team
- audiovisual team
- streaming tea/
As a class we decided to make a website for the Limburgish youth where they can spot the coolest events of the province of Limburg in the Netherlands. The website includes:
- streaming videos from the most populair events
- reviews from events
- photos from events
- agenda
As the leader of the graphic design team (4 members) i was responsible for the layout and logo of the website, flyers and posters.
